Update on Bob's health issues....
Both Alice and myself have been going through some serious health issues. In the last few months Alice has had a triple-heart bypass, plus surgury for lung cancer.d She is recovering nicely from both procedures.
I have both Prostrate and Bladder cancer. New MRI setup for June 8th; follow up will be on June 27th when treatment options will be finalized re the bladder cancer. Hopefully this will be as non-invasive as possible....So, it's hurry up and wait with nothing definitive.

So, It's looking pretty good so far....and for that we are grateful.
The surgeon was very pleased with how things developed and we have high hopes for a good outcome. That being said we'll have a better idea in a week or so when the lab results come in from the biopsy that was performed during the procedure. One day at a time and hope for the best.....

Alice has been home since last Friday afternoon and has been making great progress. Her care at Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute was excellent. She’s being seen at home by a visiting nurse and a physical therapist, and getting daily care from Joanna and Ashley.
Moving forward we have an appointment with her Oncology surgeon for April 10th. Keep her in your good thoughts!!

Update on Alice from Joanna:
Lots of good updates! She is completely free of chest tubes, iv fluids and oxygen. Has more energy and walking down the hall. Getting up pretty much on her own to use bathroom. Most exciting thing is she is getting a shower tonight!

Wednesday update on Alice
Somehow or other Alice lost her new eyeglasses...we suspect the laundry people grabbed them by accident when they changed linens this morning. Joanna is dropping off her old pair tonight. Outside of that she's up a bit and doing ok ... but still uncomfortable which is to be expected .

Notes to a friend on Maine memories....(Vinalhaven Island)
Virginia: I probably already told you this...but when you sent me the bit on Vinalhaven it jarred a memory. Our best friends from work (Allstate) had two cottages in Maine. One was on Worthly Pond, and the other in Vinalhaven. We used to go up to the cottages with them for long weekends. All of us were avid Bridge players and we'd hop in Charlie's T-bird with the two dogs (our Dalmatian and their German ShortHaired Pointer) and head out for Rockland and the ferry. We also spent a few weeks up there on summer vacations.Long story short we decided to buy the lot next to them. It was 1 3/4 acres on the cove waterfront. It turns out that the guy who owned that lot (and several others on the cove) was a Mr. Livingston Jennings. Well, after we bought the lot we found out that he was Cathy Cave's grand-daughter or niece...don't remember which. Of course Cathy was married to our Lions buddy Bill Cave who used to work at the Day with Bill Long. What is even weirder is Livingston had that house on Boston Post Road near the bridge that crosses the Niantic River at its terminus. So, long story short, the guy who sold us the lot in Maine actually lived five miles from us in CT! We ended up selling that lot as we needed the money to buy our Willow Lane house, and with the arrival of the kids that long trek up to Maine was a lot less attractive. Of course, in hindsight, it would have been financially prudent to have kept it if we could have. Our good friend Charlie Sullivan died just a few years back...I think his wife Claudia still has the camp.Cheers! Bob

Oncologist visit 2/7/2024
We just got in from Orlando Health (Oncologist Dr. Herreda) who we met for the first time. Nothing new to report except he concers the open heart surgery will be first followed by the lung surgery in a month or two depending on Alice's recuperation from the by-pass. Next up is a date for the heart surgery which we'll get from her heart surgeon Dr. Walker. More to follow as we receive it. Feel free to call with questions: 860.460.7945

Blogger test for new subscribers...
I expect to have an update posted late Wednesday afer our visit with the Oncologist at Orlando Health. In the interim, consider this post a test if you've recently subscribed to the blog:
So, this morning fairly early Alice gets a call from the oncology consult office. They need a copy of the P.E.T scan (report and disk) that Alice had prior to the biopsy at Parrish Med Ctr and they need it prior to our visit tomorrow.
Off we went to Rockledge to the image lab and got a copy of each...20 miles of RT1 pain in the ass traffic but what the hell. In the interim Buddy is demanding attention (do you know you have to feed these starving hounds twice a day + 23 treats?). Then we notice Gwennie is about out of her thyroid meds, so Alice calls the vet for the refill and I truck to Rockledge for the scan and then to the Vet for the pills...
Even though things are blowing up around you, the daily issues keep coming...
Supper: Baby back ribs cooking in the insta-pot, baked potatoes with onion in the oven and spinach prepared and awaiting a start.
Cheers! Bob
