Apple Watch meanderings....

It seems to me like things, generally speaking, don't last as long as they used to. I'm kind of in the "use it up, wear it out" camp on many things as I get older...not the first to jump in on something just because it's new. That being said, way back when on April 10, 2015 I put in an order for an Apple Sport Watch, 42.mm. Every year there's a new Edition, but until now I didn't have a good reason to upgrade. They're up to Edition #8, plus there's been a few SE models, but the first edition watch I've been wearing did everything I needed it to do: Apple Pay, Weather and date and time, phone and msg, alarms...etc. I've finally given in and ordered the new SE that has the same chipset as the new version 8, and this will run things my original one will not...that I think I'll like. One of them is a Sleep module that connects with the iphone to track the various sleep cycles, and the other is a "back-track" navigation app to get you back to where you started if you have a brain fart and need navigational help. I'm wondering what I'll do with the original watch...could be a valulable antique some day like the old Apple 1 computer? I'm impressed that it still works as good, and looks as good, as the day I rec'd it via UPS from Apple. Back in the day when the watch was put in a drawer, or thrown out, it was because it had quit. Apple watchs don't have much quit in them it seems :).
UPDATE October 20th, 2022: I returned the Apple SE for a refund, and they processed it cheerfully and completely. To my way of thinking this new SE did very few things I needed that my original Series 1 did not do. Happily I've found and purchased a new smart watch that does what I need. It's a Health Smartwatch 3 made by Spade & Co. It has much better health modules, and the battery lasts a good week. Seems to be an excellent design...and it cost $80.00 compared to the Apple $350.00. There was a bit of a learning curve for me in leaving the Apple universe...but this watch pairs with either IOS or Android so :).
