Update on Alice's health situation sent out 12/27/2023
We just returned from a visit to Orlando Health. Alice is scheduled for open-heart surgery on January 12th. There will be additional tests done between now and then. The anticipated hospital stay is four to five days. Her prognosis for full recovery is excellent based on her current profile.
Please call me if you have questions I might be able to answer.
Bob
In addition to her upcoming open-heart surgury she is going in on January 3, 2024 for a scan for a spot on her lung. These problems were discovered in tests performed prior to a scheduled full knee replacement that has now been postphoned.

Interesting, but somewhat frustrating, times...
Today, Thanksgiving Day 2023, it's 0600 and I'm sitting here at the commputer thinking about past holidays...different places with extended family and different expectations. We'll be having the traditional turkey at our place, and be joined by David & Ashley and her parents and of course Joanna. Both Alice and myself and Ashley's dad are going through some health issues so it will be a slower pace.
Because of a flurry of medical visits we've had to cut back on our monthly camping outings. I regretfully cancelled our scheduled campout to Anastasia State Park in Saint Augustine whice we'd reserved for Decembeer as there's just too much medical stuff going on to do it. That's OK as we'll be back on the road, hopefully, come January 2024.
A few weeks ago we spent a few days at Alafia State Park...some snaps from that event here.

Falcon 9 Launch October 30th, 2023
Last night was a beautiful night for a launch! The cloud cover was scattered, the temp was balmy, and the accustics were excellent. This clip was shot from our front yard.

It's been a long while between posts :(...
It's been a while since we've posted anything to the Blog. We haven't camped for several months as there have been health issues that have knocked out our advance reservations...and we're just now getting back in the swing of things.
https://youtu.be/TTA2buWlNyM?si=G_B32RY9K0BRSVkG (Click link on left for "Remember When". The most current issue is Alice is prepping for a total right knee replacement. Earlier on she had a partial on her left knee. Due to our advancing dotage they are requiring many pre-op tests that are time consuming and a pain in the ass.
As for myself I was diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer a while back, and I've undergone treatment...and generally things are looking good. If you want details call me and I'll fill you in, but it's really boring stuff unless you're intimately involved.
Tomorrow we leave for O'Leno State Park where we'll have a four night stay. It's rural, laid back, and a great place to unwind and for the hound Buddy to get in more smell time with different paths. He lives by the nose :).

Lake Louisa State Park, July 2023
We just got in from Lake Louisa where we spent several nights over the July 4th holiday. Since fireworks are forbidden in State Parks here in Florida we thought we'd taken the hound Buddy out of harms way. No such luck as it turned out as he could still hear them way in the distance .

Mike Roess Gold Hill SP
We got in yesterday from our four night jaunt to Mike Roess Gold Hill State Park in Keystone Heights FL. Click here for photos.
It's a nice park, but it was very empty in the Sandhill camping area we were at...except for some four legged visitors:).
Our neice Marcy Hollister Willett visited us as she works only an hour away down the road...it was great seeing her!

Wekiwa Springs State Park
We just got in a few days ago from a jaunt up the road to Wekiwa Springs State Park. My brother Fred and sister-in-law Eleanor died just a few weeks ago and it was nice to get away for a bit. They were both in Hospice and it was not an unexpected passing, but still very sad and a very long story :(.

Koreshan State Park, Escaro FL
We traveled to the West Coast to Koreshan State Park in Estero Fl to visit our good friends Dick and Mellany Baker who recently relocated to Bonita Springs FL from Oregon. The State Park is very nice and we enjoyed our visit with them.
.
While at the park we recd a text from old Seaport Sam friends Dick and Ann Pelosky...and they came by for a nice visit. On the way home we had made plans to meet up with long-time friends Dave and Megan Hadley, who have a snowbird home in Venice, and it was wonderful seeing them, for sure!
So, we don't particulary like the West Coast of Florida (too much traffic) but we really enjoyed catching up with old friends we haden't seen for years. A great campout!
