The Seaport Sams Camping Club had its annual Lobster Cookout at Deer Haven Campground in Lisbon CT the weekend of September 12th-14th 2008. We started out Saturday with clam chowder and clam fritters, and our main meal in the evening was lobster (right off the boat in Stonington) along with corn on the cob and many, many side dishes and deserts. The weather held out for us until Sunday morning...last snapshot is looking out from our rig early Sunday morning. Click the title link above to transport to a Picasa photo album from this event.
Our next club campout will be to Oak Embers in RI the first weekend of October. Our food event for that weekend is our famous "Ham and Bean" pot luck.

We're back from Georgia on March 21st 2008.....
We arrived back from Georgia on March 21st, having attended The Rally in Perry Ga, visiting with relatives in Norcross Ga (Atlanta suburbs) and spending some time in the Savannah area. We've visited sites of gold mines, Air Force museums and everything in between and we're toured out! It's nice to be home to Preston - no No-See-Um's or Chiggers here :). Click the title link for a photo album link from this wonderful pre-spring vacation.
There is ONE thing we did, prior to our trip, that made a huge difference (for the better) on this jaunt South. Having learned the hard way last year trying to navigate around places like Ocala Fla, we purchased a GPS for the motor home-towed vehicle, a Tom Tom, and it saved our bacon more then once. The technology has improved dramatically on these devices as has the afford ability ...we can't recommend it enough!

We're now in Hardeeville, SC just outside of Savannah Ga...
We arrived here in Hardeeville SC at the Hardeeville RV campground (just outside of Savannah, Ga) on Sunday. There were some equipment problems that needed shakeout, the main issue being a water leak. There was good power at The Rally in Perry, but no water hookups so we ended up leaving a day early once we ran out of water. Here in Hardeeville we lucked on a great mobile repair facility (Lowcountry RV) that fixed our water leak, a mal-functioning electric entrance step and several other minor problems, all very reasonably. Yesterday we spent some time on River St in Savannah, and are going back downtown this morning for a tour. The weather here is very Spring like in the 70's and it would be very easy to get used to!!

We're Leaving for Georgia on March 6th....
We're leaving for The Rally on March 6th, by way of Atlanta (visiting Alice's brother and sister-in-law). After the Rally we'll spend some time in Savannah then head home to Preston. We should be on the road for a few weeks. Friends can contact us by regular E-mail or the cell phone.

Spending a bit of time keyboarding these days......
We've just set up a new web log for the Town of Preston website. The Blog, Preston Talks Back, is designed to obtain feedback from town residents not only on the Town Website but the larger issues facing our town.
It looks like Preston is going to lose its town paper, The Preston Pipeline. A project we've started is the digitization of the 180 issues into PDF, OCR'ed files. It (the project) is moving along but slowly as it's time consuming for sure!
